Many of our community members living off the tribal reservation have issues with getting health care in the border towns. What would you recommend for those individual when the need health care off the reservation? What type of coverage should they seek or would you recommend? Do these benefits include preventative care?
These individuals do not complete interviews. They do not complete any eligibility processes.

Medicaid - AHCCCS is the State agency that is the authority for Medicaid. DES has an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with AHCCCS and is bound by that agreement. AHCCCS is required to adhere to the Medicaid regulations in the code of federal regulations and the AZ Administrative Code.

TANF is a block grant and the State has some discretion however, we have AZ State Statute, ARS and Arizona Administrative Code, as well as some items in the code of federal regulations, AZ also is required to submit a TANF State Plan to ACF.
SNAP is governed by the Food and Nutrition Services. All three programs are governed by three different federal agencies. Sometimes we have options for waivers, but not very often.
